Iluka, which is Aboriginal for 'by the sea', is a charming coastal village at the mouth of the Clarence River, and has long been famous for fishing, with anglers from all parts of the continent converging to enjoy a region that offers some of Australia's finest rock, beach, estuary and deep sea fishing. For those not interested in fishing, Iluka offers long stretches of unspoiled beaches and perhaps Australia's most easily accessible and rarest remains of rainforest. The World Heritage-listed Iluka Nature Reserve contains the largest remnant of shoreline rainforest in New South Wales. A gentle walking track meanders through the rainforest where rich vegetation and abundant bird life are observed. Emus, kangaroos, goannas, dolphins are but a few of the local wildlife. Although only two minutes drive from the main shopping and business centre of Iluka, The Anchorage Holiday Park's general atmosphere is of friendly seclusion and tranquillity, with the tropical gardens combining with views of the beautiful Clarence River.
