Launceston is the second largest city in Tasmania and, as it has an airport, an alternative starting or ending point of a journey around the island.
Mantra Charles Hotel is just a 5-minute drive from what Australians like to call the "Central Business District" (aka the shopping centre). The bright, stylish, high-ceiling rooms have comfortable beds, free WiFi and blinds that overlap vertically to keep out the sunlight.
Parking is free, though we're not sure the architects got it right by using glass around the parking bays! A decent breakfast buffet is offered with hot items cooked to order. Great for an overnight stop.
