The Black Cap has officially reopened, bringing one of London’s most legendary LGBTQ+ venues back to life after an 11-year closure.

Known as the *“Palladium of Drag”*, this Camden institution has been at the heart of London’s queer nightlife since the 1950s. It helped launch the careers of icons such as Lily Savage, Danny La Rue, and Regina Fong, and now welcomes a new generation of drag talent.

The restored venue blends heritage with a fresh, modern feel. Inside, you’ll find Lily’s Bar, a tribute to Paul O’Grady’s iconic alter ego, as well as Shufflewicks, named after drag legend Mrs Shufflewick. The popular Regina Fong Terrace has also returned and is ideal for drinks on a sunny day.

Expect a lively programme of cabaret, drag shows, and live performances, with both established acts and rising stars. Names like Baga Chipz and other exciting performers are already part of the lineup.

Located in Camden, The Black Cap is just a short walk from Camden Town station. While Camden’s gay scene is smaller than Soho, this venue is a true destination and well worth the trip.

A must-visit for anyone wanting to experience a piece of London’s LGBTQ+ history, reimagined for today.
