LGBTQ+ Nepal Art History Tour
24 March 2027 - 2 April 2027
Kathmandu, Bagmati Province, Nepal, Kathmandu, Nepal

Nepal doesn't get the LGBTQ+ travel attention it deserves. Gay sex has been legal since 2007, same-sex marriage since 2023, and the country has a long tradition of recognizing a third gender, making it one of Asia's most progressive destinations for queer travelers. Oscar Wilde Tours makes the most of that context with a 10-day itinerary that goes well beyond the standard highlights.
Led by gay historian Professor Andrew Lear, the small-group tour (maximum 18 people) moves from the ancient temples of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur to the jungles of Bardiya National Park, one of Asia's best spots for Bengal tiger sightings, with rhinos and elephants along the way. An optional helicopter flight to Everest Base Camp is available for those who want the high-altitude bragging rights.
The LGBTQ+ thread runs throughout. Sunil Babu Pant, Asia's first openly gay parliamentarian and the driving force behind Nepal's marriage equality movement, leads a personal tour of queer Kathmandu. A traditional blessing ceremony with third-sex dancers rounds out an itinerary that genuinely connects travelers with the local community rather than just observing it from a distance.
All meals, hotels, entrance fees, and in-country transport are included. The tour runs March 24 to April 2, 2027, with prices from $4,645. Places are limited and sell out.
