Tchaikovsky: Child of Glass

Tchaikovsky: Child of Glass comes to London's Opera Holland Park for three performances on 13, 14 and 15 August 2026. This music drama explores the life of composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, focusing on the conflict between his sexuality and the expectations of 19th-century Russian society.

Written and performed by Tama Matheson, the production combines theatre, live music and dance, with music direction and piano by Jayson Gillham. The cast also features actors Suzy Kohane and Oliver Holland, alongside Royal Ballet dancer Téo Dubreuil, with choreography by former Royal Ballet dancer Stephen Wicks.

Performed within a concert of Tchaikovsky's music, Child of Glass traces the composer's journey from artistic triumph to personal struggle, examining how his experiences as a gay man shaped some of the most enduring works in classical music. Nominated for an RPS Storytelling Award, the production offers a powerful portrait of one of history's most influential composers.
